balance by Sheldon Alexander
Balance
I'm trying to find the balance
Of not driving you away
And giving you enough space to stay
Finding balance between not seeing my kids, and showing up when I say I will.
If balance means loving and hating
Sometimes I might tip the scales and be biased
Let the good times roll
But you can only hold on to things for so long
My limit has a toll
And taxes can get too high
if you're not careful
Some people gamble a consequences they can't handle
I'm still trying to find the balance
Of working on the clock and off-site
I think of wage theft
Less like rebellion
More like Recompense
Hardly a crime if my company is more felonious
I'm just an associate anyway
An accessory to fortune
Not an asset but an excerpt to someone else's work
The feeling of getting the job but you haven't started yet..
or working 3 months to get laid off.
See, that's the "balance"
A tit for tat
If two libras loved, why are odds are against them?
When the truth is they're the ones who understand each other the most
Balance
How I tether between life and death
Wanting to give up
not because life was hard
Or that I always lose in a game of chicken
But maybe being trapped in this rib cage is unbearable
I heard about a bird that once drowned in its own sanctuary
He told me he couldn't swim
Only to end up found in a river
And the balance only told me to live longer
Grieve for lost love and lives
Rejoice for neo genesis and rebirth
We story tell stars but don't recite it's inherent destruction, it's internal burning
Like a career ending tabloid
If a star exploded in your face depends on how close
will you live to see its beauty or perish in its anguish
I remember being once close to a star
But just like that. It vanished into a black hole
There was no bang
No burn
Not a sliver of light
Balance taught me
To let go.
And still hold tight.
